Galveston island, Texas

Galveston island 2017. I always love going to the beach. The beach is always so much fun. The waters were really choppy and the tide was higher than usual. My new boyfriend and I walked through down the seawall and there were bike, beach chair, and umbrella rentals for those who don’t have personal ones. The water was so cool and the wind was blowing which made the conditions perfect for what we planned to do which was to relax. We stood in the water and let the waves knock us around for a minute until I almost fell and the life guards jumped up. Galveston beach has salt water so be prepared have dry skin and red eyes from high concentration of salt. Always check the local beach website for tides and warning before you go and bring plenty of water.

After Playing on the beach for about an hour, we decided to go to the ferry and ride across from one side of the island to the next. This is always my favorite thing to do because I get to see the dolphins. It always fascinates me when I see the jumping out of the water next to the boat. I am surprised that they can live in such salty waters. Another cool experience was when the huge boats that carry in supplies passed us up and it made the boat rock from side to side. I know that it was scary for some people but I thought that it was awesome.

I can’t wait to go back next time with a beach towel, ball, umbrella, and a picnic basket. It’s a perfect little vacation get away from Houston, but I am trying to get to an island where I can go snorkeling.

Random rant about Music. Its a good thing.

So, I have been listening to Pandora every morning on my way to work, and this morning the music was so good that I did not want to turn it off. I have had my headphones in since I came to work. I am getting my work finished at a faster rate than normal and my whole mood has changed. I feel great. When certain songs come on, I just want to get up and dance but I cant because the patients will think that  I am crazy.  I am trying hard not to sing, but when songs come on that I love and I haven’t heard them in such a long time, It makes not singing so hard. I just don’t want to embarrass myself because I am not much of a singer at all. Have you ever heard a song that just explains exactly what you are going through? I have heard plenty today. I also came to a realization that every relationship that I have been in has been made into a song, and every time I hear that song it takes me back to how I was feeling when me and that person fell apart. I also hear songs about where I want to be in my future. Beyoncé’s songs are really an inspiration. Some of her songs are like stories. They have a deep meaning. She motivates me. She was a big reason why I decided to cut my hair off and let my natural strands curl and coil any way that they want. The song is called “Pretty Hurts”. You should definitely check it out. It gives be chills when ever I hear it. The way you look on the outside doesn’t define who you are in the inside. I don’t understand why people can never get to know a person for who they are and not what they look like. Everyone is so unique and beautiful in their own way. Other songs make me think that my boyfriend is cheating on me, but then I realize that I don’t a boyfriend. I am pretty sure that their is research on the topic of music and how it stimulates your mood and has such a tremendous effect on what you do in your life. I praise artist who actually make songs that have meaning. I am not that creative to make music but I would love to meet someone who has that talent and listen to them play.

Haney Park, Texas City Dike : A place where I forgot all of my problems

The weekend that melted all of the stress that I have been dealing with away. This park is in a small neighborhood tucked off in the middle of no where, but the atmosphere is more than mediocre. It’s  $5 a day for visitors to park and the local police department are always around to protect their citizens. The area is so full of life! You have the fish jumping out of the water, the birds flying around over head catching the fish, the blackish dolphins playing in the waters next to the ferry that connects the islands, the Fisherman on the pier that sit for hours at a time pulling in small fish for sport. You also will see children and adults alike playing in the waters, building sand castles, riding jet skis, and the food and ice cream trucks that stay in the area all day. Lately I have been going through a lot of hard times and I needed a place to relax and I found it here at this dike. I just watched the waves tickle my toes as I allowed the sun to penetrate my skin and make my skin tone richer. This place is highly recommend by me. There is so much to do out there for it to be so small. Next time I go back, I will defiantly be bringing camping supplies because I really did not want to leave last night!

The day that I started my Natural Hair Journey.

A lot of people have different reasons for cutting their hair and deciding and letting there locs grow. Some people say that its just a trend, others say that they were tired of the chemical process that they were putting their hair trough. Honestly, for me, it was more of a spiritual move. I have been talked about and teased for a long time because of my appearance. I have always been bigger than other girls and my skin has always been darker. Once I started to love myself and to stop looking in magazines and ads, I realized that I was made in God’s image. No one in this world looks like me and I am so proud to say that. Each individual strand of my hair has its own curl pattern and each curl is different. To me, having my hair In its natural state makes me stand out. Some people laugh and call my hair nappy, but that doesn’t bother me any more. I love my coils.

The day that I cut my hair of was in April 2016. I had just washed and put a deep conditioner on my hair. When I got out of the shower, my hair was so flat and just completely damaged. The treatment did absolutely nothing for my hair. At that time, I was about 4 or 5 months post relaxer, so I had a little “new growth”. When I looked at my curly new growth full of life and my dead limp strands, it was an easy decision to make. I picked up my scissors and cut every single piece of straight hair that I had on my head. I cut about 10 to 12 inches of hair that day. My hair was so short that I think it went into a state of shock. My curls were not as curly as I wanted them to be. Some of my coils looked as if they ceased up. For the first few month, I washed and deep conditioned my hair every two weeks. I kept my hair pushed back with a broken hair tie.

After months of trying different products at different prices points, my hair finally began to go through a dramatic change. My curls began to show more definition and a lot of bounce. I watched YouTube videos about to revert my curls and I must say that those video really helped me a lot. Its been a little over a year now since I’ve cut my hair and I have definitely had my ups and downs with my strands. I still have yet to find products that I really like. If any of you all reading this have any suggestions please comment the name of the company so that I can test them out.  Also comment any question or concerns that you have and if you would be interested in my wash day routine.

Atlanta Georgia

In August of 2016 I decided to take my first ever flight to Atlanta Georgia. I decided to make this flight/trip because a couple years prior to 2016, I had a layover in Atlanta on the greyhound bus and while we were driving through the city, I always said that I wanted to come back.

The flight from Houston was relatively short, about 2.5 hours from Houston. I read from different websites and articles about how busy the airport was and I must say that is a fact. I was kind of lost when I had to catch a train from my terminal to go on the other side of the airport to get my luggage. I was a very interesting experience. I rented a car there, which was the best decision that I made because Atlanta was way too spread out for me to walk.

I checked in at a hotel 2 miles away from the airport. I don’t remember the name of the hotel but I think it was a Days Inn in College Park. I left a review on their website and also with Google. The hotel was awful. As soon as I walked to the room I turned on the a/c and it was incredibly loud. I then went to unpack my luggage and saw that there were spiders in the room. The hot water was not heating the water so I had to take a cold bath the first night. The same night as I arrived, someone started beating on my door and jiggling the handle trying to get in. I would never advise anyone to stay in this hotel unless you aren’t afraid of spiders and intruders.

Day one of the trip, I started off by going to Lenox mall. I went into the Macys department store and bought some lush products. I then just went around looking at different stores for little trinkets and souvenirs but did not find much. The mall is just like any other mall in a big city.  The had all of the basic stores that are at the Galleria in Houston.

After I left the mall, I went to find Piedmont Park where it was absolutely beautiful. That Is one of the things that I loved about Atlanta is that it was so scenic. Beautiful high rises and an awesome park sitting right outside of downtown.

After the park, I was kind of hungry so I went to a popular place in little  5 points called The Vortex and I ordered the most delicious burger. The place was so eccentric and eclectic. I enjoyed all of the things that were on the all and all of the art work on the side of the building. While I was there, A woman approached me and told me how beautiful that I was. I just love southern hospitality.

On day two, I headed off for the Georgia Aquarium. When I walked up to the aquarium, They had this sculpture of   a penguin made with trash that was found in the seas that were harming marine life. It was beautifully constructed. As soon as you walk in, you are greeted by warm and friendly people. I purchased the Dolphin experience , so I went to the desk to find out how to sign in. Sign in was very easy and the instructor was very informative. She walked my group to the back stage area where the dolphins are fed and where they rest while they aren’t performing. while there each group got to play with a dolphin. Since I was alone, I had my dolphin all to myself. I had soooo much fun with him. They are super smart and they feel like wet rubber when you touch them. I would definitely recommend that anyone who loves sea animals go to there little events that the aquarium has to offer. The trainers were highly professional and so acknowledgeable about the animals. This was the highlight of my trip. When you are done with the dolphins, you should go check out the whale sharks. They are freaking huge and so majestic.

Right next door was the coke factory where the secret coke formula is locked into a safe. The staff there were awesome, they even let us take a souvenir glass bottle home. My favorite part of the tour was the 100 different kinds of coke from all over the world. There were some from Africa all the way to Tokyo. Some of them were tasty and other were horrible but it was fun to taste them. If you go here, make sure that you take your coke slowly because you can get a sugar/caffeine rush in no time!

The last day that I was in Georgia, I went to stone mountain for spiritual reasons. This mountain was larger than I thought that it was going to be. My intentions were to climb the mountain but I got 1/4 of the way up and fell down because it was so steep. Luckily they had cable cars that took you up and dropped you back off!

I just wanted to go to Georgia to take it in for its culture and country beauty. I watch Love & Hip hop and I see when the cast goes out to parks and things like that and I kind of wanted to see that. Im not really into the nightlife, but if you are into that type of thing then Atlanta is where you want to be. Thanks for reading and please feel free to comment and subscribe to my page to see more travel blogs like this. Also share this blog with friends  who are interested in going to anywhere mentioned above in the article. God bless

Visiting Las Vegas in December

My trip to Vegas in December 2016 is one for the books. I went on this trip for my annual birthday vacation and let me tell you it was a time to remember. I definitely have to come back when it’s not so cold.

When I first planned this trip, I was thinking that it wasn’t going to get that cold because we were in the middle of Nevada in the desert but the weather fooled me! I knew that I wasn’t going to be swimming and walking around with shorts on but I did not expect it to be near freezing out there so if you all decide to go at this time of the year I would suggest wearing and extra layer. You won’t regret it.

When we arrived at the airport the first thing I noticed was a liquor store and slot machines! It was weird yet awesome! My plane landed at 4:30 and by the time I got my luggage and went to look for a shuttle bus it was already dark outside and it was just a little after 5. The shuttle bus that I took was 24 dollars round trip which wasn’t bad but next time I go, I think I will catch an uber or try to book a hotel with free airport pickup because I could literally see my hotel from the airport.

I stayed at the stratosphere hotel on the far end of the strip. It was a beautiful hotel but I had staff to tell me that it was a bad area to walk in at night. The hotel also charges a resort fee of about 24 dollars a night but they give you access to go to the top of the tower and to ride the rides that were there as well so I did not mind paying a little extra.

Once I checked in the first thing that I did was go to the top of the tower where you can see the entire strip. I would definitely recommend going to the top of the tower and if you are a date devil, they have different attractions up the such as sky jump, insanity, big shot, and x scream.20161207_190835.jpg20161207_193257.jpg

The very next day was just full of shopping and sight seeing. I highly recommend buying the bus pass that is good for the whole day. It was so much more convenient getting from one side of the strip to the other especially with shopping bags.

One of my favorite attractions was the Eiffel tower at the Paris hotel and casino. The inside of the casino is incredibly photogenic. The guy in the section where you purchase the tickets for the elevator ride to the top was really rude though. The elevator ride was scary for some reason! I guess because it’s all glass and you can see how fast it goes. It was scary awesome

Our next stop as bellagio which is right across the street from Paris. I really can’t explain how beautiful this place is so I will let the photos speak for themselves.

I went to so many shopping malls that I can’t remember the name of all of them, but if you are looking for some awesome stores I would definitely recommend the forum shops and the fashion show mall. Both of the shopping malls have tons of different store for everyone with different taste. I like to pick up small trinkets and souviners so those are the kind of stores that I visited. I also love novelty candy and when I found it’sugar, I nearly lost my mind. I love this place and I recently found one back in Houston where I am from.

After all of the shopping I decided that I wanted to go to downtown Vegas and it is the complete opposite of the strip. There were parties everywhere. That is the place where the meaning “what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas ” comes from. I really regret going on the last day of my trip because I was already tired from doing tourist things earlier in the day and I had just eaten a big plate of enchiladas and margaritas, so I was really tired. Next time I come back to Vegas I’m definitely spending more time off of the strip and more downtown.

Overall my experience in Vegas was one that I will always remember. The only negative about vegas was the people on every corner asking me to sign up for a seminar about time shares. That was so freaking annoying. Please do not fall for those. From all of the lights at night and the show at the fountains at bellagio to the lady dancing half naked I’m Fremont street, I must say that I really enjoyed everything about my trip. The only tips that I have for you all from my experience is go there during the warmer months, plan out your trip before you go because there is so much to to and see, bring extra money, do not walk alone at night, buy a bus pass I think they are 8 dollars a day, try Fremont street for the party scene, and read all of the fine print when you are booking your hotel because most of them have resort fees. Oh and plan ahead! Through southwest airlines my flight and hotel was under $400
