I visited the boardwalk in Kemah this past Friday. The Kemah Boardwalk overlooks the Galveston bay and is approximately 60 acres. It is about 30 minutes from downtown Houston and is really easy to find. The boardwalk is owned and operated by the Landry’s Company and has about 10 restaurants and a large variety of rides, midway games, and attractions. The boardwalk even has a charter yacht named Fanta Seas. It is $20 per person for a leisure cruise and about $80 for a dinner or lunch cruise. Some of the restaurants featured are Bubba Gump, Saltgrass, and Cadillac grill.
The board walk also has a monster speed boat called the Board Beast. The beast is 70 foot long boat that runs seasonally. Top speeds are around 40 miles per hours, which is actually pretty fast for the size of the boat. The workers that are on the boat are always friendly, with high spirits. The music selection on the boat also makes the ride a must do. Tickets run about $20 per person.
Lastly, Kemah host many events depending on the season. I went in June, so they were doing love music, as always, boat parades, and fireworks. You will have to visit the website to find the events for the time that you are going because it changes every day. I recommend going at any time of the year because they always have something going on and they never disappoint. They even have lodging right on the boardwalk, so that you can walk out of your hotel room and will be right in the middle of all of the fun. They even put in a new zip line ride, so this is a place that you most definitely have to try while you are in the Houston/ Galveston area.
So, I have struggled with weight loss my whole life. I was always on the larger side and I used to hate myself for being overweight. I took diet pills, starved myself, and also tried so many diets that I gave up hope. I was at my heaviest about a year ago. I will have numbers for you whenever I reach my goal weight because I am still embarrassed of how high they are. I am blessed to say that with my BMI being so high, I do not have high blood pressure, diabetes, or high cholesterol. I have a clean bill of health for now and I want to keep it that way.
I have a vacation planned for December 2017 to Nassau, Bahamas and I want to look good in all of my pictures, plus I just want to be healthy over all. I want to lose about 60 to 80 pounds. I don’t know if that’s possible but I am going to try. If I drop 80 lbs, I would be at my ideal weight.
My work out plan:
My work out plan is going to be different every week because I honestly get bored doing the same things over and over, so I am going to go to pinterest every week to look up full body work out challenges. They are mostly going to consist of a lot of cardio and some strengthening. I am also going to walk at least 5 miles a day, which is going to be hard for me because I have a desk job, and when I get off of work, I want to sleep. My motivation is going to be a picture of the beach that I am going to hang on my bathroom mirror.
Healthy eating is really hard for me. It is so easy for me to just grab a burger on my way home then to go to the grocery store, buy food, bring it in the house, cook it, then eat it. Plus, I love sweets and chips so those are going to be so hard to give up. My plan is to cook all of my meals and eat more fruits and veggies instead of junk. I have done it before, so its not going to be impossible. I prefer chicken and eggs as my protein, since I do not eat fish. I will update these things the further that I get into this regime.
I love myself, let me just say that. I’m not doing this weight loss journey because I hate the way that I look, I am doing this journey because I want to be a better me. It doesn’t matter what size that I am, I just want to be able to do the things that I want to do without losing my breath. I want to go skydiving, snorkeling, jumping of cliffs, and parasailing, and I feel like I cant do that at my current weigh. As I said previously, I am going to update and try to post every week or sometimes twice a week to tell you guys what I have been doing and the progress that I am making. I’m going to end this blog by saying “LOVE YOURSELF”
What a day to remember. First of all, I must say that this is one of the most beautiful parks that I have ever been to. I remember going to the zoo when I was younger and from the zoo to this park. I loved the park then as a child, and I most certainly love it now as an adult. The park is located right in the middle of the museum district, just steps away from the Texas Medical center. The park is open year round and it sits on 445 acres of land. It is truly massive and beautiful. The park also has a huge reflecting pool with a statue of Sam Houston at one side.
This park also houses the Houston zoo, Houston garden center, Miller outdoor theater, Houston museum of natural science, and the Hermann park golf course. The park is truly massive so there is always something for you and your family to do. On my trip to the park this weekend, my boyfriend and I walked along the reflective pool and around to the Japanese Garden. I love the fact that the park has so many trees because it was really hot out and the trees really provided beautiful shade from the sun. I just love walking around parks and seeing the little kids play in the water, laugh, and play because it reminds me of a time when I was young and I had no worries. I really want to live my life like that with no stress and no worries, and that’s why I love going to places such as there. If you are reading this and you are in Houston or planning to visit one day, please make it a point to come to the park and check out the zoo, the small lake, the Japanese gardens, and also the museums. You will not regret it. The Houston Zoo charges $18 for adults, $11.50 for seniors, $14 for children 2-11, and admission is free for children under the age of 2. The Japanese garden is completely free. The miller outdoor center hosts a different selection of plays and movies on different days so please look at the website for more details. This part of the park is also free., just make sure to bring a blanket and some snacks because you will be sitting on the hill in the grass, so come prepared. The museum of natural science is $25 for adults, $15 for children 3-11, $15 for seniors, and free for children under the age of 2. I hope this helps you guys get some insight on what to expect when going to the park. I promise, this park never disappoints.
